Background

WN8 Motors was built on a straightforward premise: bring specialist-level engine work directly to the customer. No workshop overheads inflating prices. No weeks-long waiting lists. No car sat on a ramp for days waiting for attention between other jobs.

The experience behind it spans over 20 years — starting as an apprentice, progressing through main dealer environments (where you learn manufacturer procedures and diagnostic methodology), then into independent workshops (where you learn to actually think and problem-solve without a dealer tech line to call). That combination produces a skillset that's increasingly rare: systematic diagnostic ability combined with practical mechanical expertise.

Why engine work

Most mobile mechanics stick to servicing, brakes, and pad-slapping. They avoid timing belts, head gaskets, and anything that requires precision assembly because the consequences of getting it wrong are severe. An incorrectly timed engine destroys itself. A head gasket fitted without proper torque sequence and surface preparation fails within weeks.

We focus on this work specifically because it's what we're best at. The specialist tools, the diagnostic equipment, the knowledge of engine-specific quirks and common failure points — that's not acquired from a YouTube video or a Haynes manual. It comes from two decades of stripping, building, and diagnosing engines across every manufacturer.

How we operate

We operate as a mobile service across the WN8 area and surrounding towns. Booked time slots — not vague morning/afternoon windows. You know when we're arriving, what we're doing, and exactly what it costs before we start.

• Proper equipment — dealer-level diagnostics, torque-calibrated tooling, specialist engine tools, transmission jacks, engine support bars
• OE-specification parts — correct-spec oil, genuine or OE-equivalent components. Not the cheapest option on the shelf
• Fixed pricing — what we quote is what you pay. If something changes, you know before we proceed
• No upselling — we don't manufacture work. If your car doesn't need something, we won't tell you it does

The work we do

Engine work is the core of what we offer — timing belts, head gaskets, engine rebuilds, turbo repairs, clutches — but we handle everything else too. Servicing, brakes, diagnostics, suspension, exhausts, electrical. If it's broken, we fix it. If it needs maintaining, we maintain it. The difference is that when something complex comes up, we don't farm it out or refuse the job — we do it ourselves, properly.
